Sending a campaign is great, but if you don’t have any email addresses in you database, well.. that makes things a little tricky.
Email addresses are the most valuable form of soft leads. In fact, the more subscribers you have, the more effective you are 🙂
So here is a little guide with 5 easy techniques you can apply to start collecting subscribers for your newsletter on WordPress.
1. Create an opt-in form for your newsletter signups.
This is by far the best method 🙂 Forms come in many shapes and sizes. In a sidebar, in an out of the blue pop-up… The options are endless. And as long as you don’t forget these tips, you’ll stay on track no matter which type you choose:
– Make your form easy to find and fill in
– Tell your audience what you will send, and how often
– Personalize as much as possible
2. Offer a discount for subscribing to your newsletter
For example, Zalando offers a £10 discount if you sign up to their newsletter:
3. Call-to-action button
If you have a blog, make sure to create a call-to-action button that points out the option to subscribe and stay up-to-date with some fresh news.
4. Create a contest
This is a great one. In fact, contests have proven to be one of the best ways to increase your database. You can create a contest or giveaway on social networks, for example, and ask your readers to subscribe to your newsletter in order to enter. Not only will this boost your subscriber list, but it will also help your website to gain more visibility. Retweets or Likes enhance your online reputation and will bring your brand image to a whole new level.
5. Offer free resources
Offer free resources, such as a downloadable e-book, in exchange of an email address (works as well for a content upgrade).
Of course, it depends on what you’re selling (products, services, consulting etc), but providing something valuable in exchange of some information such as an email address, is worth it.
There’s no miracle recipe, but we hope these tips will help you in your newsletter subscription. If you know a better way to do it, please share and comment 🙂
